Galveston

We spent Saturday afternoon in Galveston. We took a nice walk downtown in the beautiful weather, and it felt good to be outside and enjoying the day with my family.

We stopped by the visitor center.

There were a lot of interesting architectural details on the buildings downtown.

 And colorful paint jobs.

A gaslamp on the sidewalk near where we stopped for coffee.

A giant cornet outside a jazz club called Trumpets. It was created for the 1984 World's Fair in new Orleans.

 A nice color scheme.

 Pretty scroll work.

 Colorful storefronts.

 A corner store.

Lamps and awnings.

Our little family enjoying the day together.

Farewell (For Now)

We had our Farewell For Now party at the home of Karis, Jeff, Peyton and Liam last weekend. Karis and Celia did a great job of making things fun and festive and delicious!

Happy Anniversary to Us, 5 Years!

I was especially pleased with my anniversary gift for Art this year. The traditional gift for the 5th anniversary is wood. How's this for combining his love of percussion with his desire to be in the kitchen cooking!?

Spoons on one end, drumsticks on the other! Mix Stix from Spoon Sisters, a site with fun and unique gifts.

Tycoon Percussion Wooden Egg Shaker.

Euphorbia

I had no idea this plant would do so well outside. It has gotten so many new leaves!

Blue Sweater

It has been a while since I posted here. That's because almost every photo I take is of Gracie and shows up on her blog instead!

I made this little sweater while I was on bedrest before Gracie arrived, and it was finished except for the buttons on the shoulder. I had a few spare moments the other day and finally sewed them on! It's finished in PLENTY of time for Gracie to grow into it.

The yarn is Swish Worsted Merino wool in "Caribbean" from KnitPicks. The pattern is a variation from the book Natural Knits for Babies and Moms.

Pink Hat

A hat to go with the sweater, also from the book Natural Knits for Babies and Moms.

Knit Grass Rug

Lion Brand Yarn offers a free pattern for this knit grass rug (there's also a crochet version). How fun for a playroom, whether for a kid or an adult!
